The new year has begun, and with it have come a number of challenges to navigate as you, and we, strive to deliver the best care for your children. We at Montgomery Pediatrics have always been dedicated to providing the best quality care and evidenced-based medical guidance for all of our families. This includes recommendations regarding childhood vaccinations.
While the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has recently abruptly changed the childhood immunization schedule, the Academy of Pediatrics and Montgomery Pediatrics do not support these changes. The science, safety, and efficacy of childhood vaccines have not changed and the evidence shows the vaccines recommended at routine well visits are safe and in fact much safer than contracting the illnesses they prevent.
We at Montgomery Pediatrics want your child(ren) to be healthy and active, protecting them as best we can—and this includes providing routine childhood immunizations at well visits in addition to ensuring we review proper growth, development, and anticipatory guidance. The AAP-endorsed childhood vaccine schedule will continue to be followed in our office at this time, and our providers do not adapt to alternative vaccine schedules given the schedule was designed to work best for your child’s immune system at different ages and timing between doses.
